Records


The Palm Springs Police Department's Records Division consists of:

  • 8 civilian Police Services Officers (PSO's)
  • 1 PSO Supervisors
  • 1 part-time PSO
  • 1 Police Records Technician

They are responsible for:

  • Answering all incoming non-emergency telephone calls
  • Routing calls
  • Taking messages for officers
  • Mail delivery in the station
  • Front counter contacts
  • Call priority determination
  • Counter reports
  • Giving directions
  • Preparation of court packages
  • Report filing, data entry
  • Some prisoner searches in the jail
  • Auditing the bookings for correct entry into our computer system
  • Temporarily securing and caring for lost or injured animals
  • Caring for children while awaiting Child Protective Services
  • Making copies of reports for the public and insurance companies
  • Training Explorers and students in clerical work
  • Some bilingual translation for officers
  • Equipment violation citation sign-offs
  • Maintaining the Megan's Law disk and updates
  • Maintaining compliance with the California Public Records Act

Hours of service are 6:00AM to 10:00PM every day. The lobby is open from 8:00AM to 7:00PM as staffing allows. The Records Division can be reached at our non-emergency line during these hours at (760) 323-8116.

The Police Records Technician, Rich McCutcheon, is responsible for warrants, subpoena service, court liaison duties, monthly Department of Justice reports on all our statistics, and training our Jail staff in data entry. His hours are from 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday-Friday. He can be reached at (760) 323-8147.
